New Release: Tudor Black Bay 58 Watch in Burgundy

‘Twas the night before April Fools’ Day, and all through the web, Not a writer was stirring, not even a Kev. Our laptops were placed by our desks with great care, In hopes that new Tudors soon would be there. When suddenly, the website refreshed in a flash (actually, not really…), We clicked through the pages—we needed that stash! But lo and behold, what did appear? A Black Bay 58… in Burgundy this year. While this is still not what I—or you—were dreaming of (I’m looking at you, Tudor, to re-release the original burgundy/black dial in the 58), this could still appeal to those trying to fill that void. The Black Bay 58 features a 39mm stainless steel case with polished and satin finishes, paired with a striking burgundy bezel insert. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the stainless steel screw-down crown bears the Tudor rose in relief. With 200 meters (660 feet) of water resistance., it’s built for those who dive—whether into the ocean or, more likely, their watch collection. For versatility and comfort, the Black Bay 58 offers a choice between a stainless steel five-link bracelet, a three-link “rivet-style” bracelet, or a rubber strap, all featuring the Tudor “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp. Naturally, pricing reflects whichever option you choose. Its subtly domed satin radial-brushed dial in burgundy is accented with silver details and signature “Snowflake” hands. These hands have been a hallmark of Tudor divers’ watches since 1969, enhanced with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility. And just like every year, I write my wish list to Santa Tudor, asking for a that black dial and burgundy bezel—yet alas, that sleigh has long since sailed. This burgundy is very nice though. The watch is powered by the Manufacture Calibre MT5400-U, a self-winding mechanical movement with a silicon hairspring and a 65-hour power reserve. It is both COSC- and METAS-certified as a Master Chronometer, ensuring exceptional precision, magnetic resistance, and reliability. The watch’s oscillator features a variable inertia balance with micro-adjustment by screw, a non-magnetic silicon balance spring, and a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hz). With a total diameter of 30.3mm and a thickness of 4.9mm, the movement incorporates 27 jewels for smooth operation. The watch also includes a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. I believe the Black Bay 58 delivers a perfect balance of heritage, performance, and modern craftsmanship, no matter the variation. I also think it’s one of the best diver tool watches around, so seeing the burgundy edition makes me feel like a kid on Christmas morning—except instead of unwrapping my grail color combo, I’m left hoping for next year’s drop. Was this worth the hype, though? That’s up to you to decide. I do think though, this could be worn by Santa himself with this color. The Black Bay 58 Burgundy (M7939A) is priced at $4,600 USD for the 5-link bracelet variant and $4,500 USD for the 3-link bracelet option, with both including the rubber strap. It’s available now, so dash away, dash away, dash away all—to the TUDOR website. "); });
