New Release: Tudor Pelagos Ultra Watch

The Tudor Pelagos was one of the first watches I added to my collection, and it quickly became a go-to for its robust feel and no-nonsense design. It’s the kind of watch you reach for when you want something with real presence on the wrist—something that feels built for purpose. With the introduction of the Tudor Pelagos Ultra, Tudor has expanded that presence both physically and technically. Now sized at 43mm and backed by METAS certification, it’s the most capable version of the Pelagos to date. And while Tudor may never revive the Submariner name, the Pelagos lineup remains the closest spiritual successor—carrying forward the legacy of serious, military-grade tool watches without leaning too heavily on nostalgia. Tudor has introduced its most technically advanced dive watch to date with the new Pelagos Ultra. Developed to meet the deep demands of saturation diving, the watch can deliver with 1,000 meters of water resistance, a redesigned case and bracelet system, and METAS Master Chronometer certification—all wrapped in a 43mm titanium package. This latest addition pushes the Pelagos family to new technical depths, offering a purpose-built tool that builds on the foundation of Tudor’s modern dive watch lineup. The 43mm case is constructed using both grade 2 and grade 5 titanium, a combination that balances lightness, strength, and resistance to pressure. The case body is satin-brushed grade 2 titanium, while the case back is made from the harder and more corrosion-resistant grade 5 titanium—a subtle evolution from previous models. It’s curious why the entirety of the case wouldn’t be made from the more sought-after grade 5 titanium. The case also features a satin-brushed finish and a screw-down crown engraved with the Tudor shield. A domed sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the watch is water-resistant to an impressive 1,000 meters (3,280 feet). A unidirectional rotating bezel made from grade 2 titanium includes a matte ceramic insert treated with Grade X1 and BGW9 Swiss Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility at depth. A fun addition—though familiar to fans of the Pelagos—is the helium escape valve, which remains part of this latest model, reinforcing its readiness for professional saturation diving. The watch is equipped with a black matte dial featuring a sandblasted flange and monobloc ceramic composite hour markers filled with luminous material. True to Tudor’s dive watch stylings, the Ultra includes the brand’s distinctive “Snowflake” hands—first introduced in 1969 and now a hallmark that many Tudor fans have come to recognize the brand by. The dial is engineered for extreme legibility, with dual-color lume: green for the minute hand and bezel pip (for tracking elapsed time) and blue for the remaining elements. These subtle but functional distinctions enhance visibility when visibility matters most. It’s also nice to see a return to fewer lines of dial text—here, only three: Pelagos, Master Chronometer, and the depth rating, which now reads 1,000 meters. That’s a notable reduction from the five lines found on the standard Pelagos, a detail some wearers have mentioned can feel like a lot to track visually. Powering the watch is the Tudor Manufacture Calibre MT5612-U, a COSC-certified chronometer that has also passed METAS Master Chronometer certification—a first for the Pelagos line. This marks a continuation of Tudor’s broader push to bring METAS-certified movements across more of its catalog, building on recent releases like the Black Bay Ceramic and other Master Chronometer models. The movement offers automatic winding via a bidirectional rotor, a 65-hour power reserve, a non-magnetic silicon balance spring, a variable inertia balance with micro-adjustment screw, a beat rate of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and stop-seconds functionality for precise time setting. At just 6.5mm thick, the movement contributes to a balanced overall case profile, while delivering robust performance suited to extreme use. The watch is offered on a three-link titanium bracelet with a T-fit folding clasp, safety catch, and a diver’s extension system. While the bracelet retains the same core functionality as the standard Pelagos—including rapid adjustment and solid extension range—it appears to have a slightly more refined look in this iteration. For the first time in the Pelagos line, Tudor has integrated a visual indicator system into the clasp, complete with luminous material. This allows divers to easily see which setting the clasp is on, even in low light or during a deep-water dive where quick adjustments may be necessary. Also included is a black rubber strap with titanium end links and a pin buckle, plus a rubber extension piece that allows for an additional 110mm of length to accommodate a wetsuit or drysuit. With its upgraded water resistance, helium escape valve, and METAS-certified movement, the Tudor Pelagos Ultra is positioned as the most capable diver’s watch Tudor has ever made. Though it’s engineered for extreme saturation diving environments, its design and specifications will appeal to enthusiasts who appreciate watches built without compromise. The Tudor Pelagos Ultra M2543C1A7NU-0001 is available now through authorized Tudor retailers, with a retail price of $5,950 USD. For more information, please visit the Tudor website. "); });
