DevOps startup Opsera raises $20M to accelerate software delivery with AI agents

AI DevOps startup Opsera raises $20M to accelerate software delivery with AI agents Devops orchestration startup Opsera Inc. said today it has closed on a $20 million round of funding as it looks to position itself at the forefront of an artificial intelligence-powered revolution in software delivery. Today’s round was led by Prosperity 7 and Hitachi Ventures, and saw participation from previous investor Clear Ventures, coming about 18 months after it closed on a $12 million Series A capital raise. The startup says the DevOps industry, like many others, is undergoing a seismic shift with the rapid rollout of AI-powered automation. Most enterprises are looking to accelerate software delivery any way they can, and that has led to a lot of interest in so-called agentic AI systems that can automate and optimize developer workflows, predict risks and self-heal essential software infrastructure. Opsera has emerged as a key player in this area, building on its existing DevOps platform by adding AI agents that move beyond static automation to adaptive, intelligent orchestration. Whereas traditional DevOps automation is based on predefined workflows, Opsera’s AI agents can dynamically analyze, adapt and optimize software delivery lifecycles in real time. The startup explains that its agents act as intelligent copilots for DevOps engineers, continuously monitoring and enhancing software delivery processes and update pipelines. They transform fragmented DevOps processes into a unified, AI-powered engine by connecting insights from disparate platforms such as GitHub, Jira, VS Code and more. As a result, they enable end-to-end visibility into every step of the software lifecycle, with proactive risk mitigation and automated patching of security vulnerabilities. Opsera’s agents work by observing and learning from developer’s interactions and activities, including their pipeline executions and release flows. They can identify operational bottlenecks and then come up with recommendations to optimize workflows and correct inefficiencies to streamline the entire DevOps process. The startup has also built an AI Code Assistant that works alongside its DevOps agents to provide actionable intelligence regarding developer productivity, as well as insights into the effectiveness of AI-generated code suggestions. It allows teams to measure and optimize the return on investment provided by AI coding and improve developer experiences. International Data Corp. analyst Katie Norton said the average developer estimates that AI coding assistants boost their productivity by around 35%, but it’s much harder to translate these gains into an ROI. “The metrics available in Opsera’s Unified Insights should enable organizations to demonstrate the ROI of GitHub Copilot adoption, enhancing their ability to track and quantify these productivity improvements,” she said. Today’s funding round comes in the wake of a breakout year for Opsera, which introduced numerous AI-powered capabilities in its platform while forging partnerships with organizations such as Microsoft Corp., GitHub Inc., Amazon Web Services Inc. and Databricks Inc. Its revenue has grown by more than 200% since it closed on its Series A funding in late 2023, and it has added a number of Fortune 1000 firms as customers in recent months. Chief Executive Kumar Chivukula said his company is trying to redefine what’s possible with AI agent-powered DevOps. “The momentum we’re seeing is a direct reflection of the value we’re delivering to our customers,” he said. “With Opsera Unified Insights, customers gain the deepest and most intuitive metrics from code to cloud to instrument the software development lifecycle and significantly improve developer productivity.” Image: Opsera A message from John Furrier, co-founder of SiliconANGLE: Your vote of support is important to us and it helps us keep the content FREE.
