The highly anticipated third and final season of "Squid Game" has premiered and, as expected, the season's death count is much higher than the list of survivors.The South Korean series is about a competition that pits 456 strangers against each other for a prize of 4.56 billion won, or just over $3 million. The first season of “Squid Game” introduced an array of sympathetic characters, only to kill them all off during the competition, except winer Gi-hun, player 456 (Lee Jung-jae).It happens again when Gi-hun enters a new round of Squid Game in Season 2. The third season concludes the game, resulting in the deaths of more favorite characters.Below, find a recap of how "Squid Game" Season 3's main characters met their gruesome fates. Warning: Spoilers for all of “Squid Game” ahead!Hyun-ju (Player 120)Park Sung-hoon as Hyun-ju in "Squid Game."No Ju-han / NetflixHyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon) is killed by Myung-gi (Im Si-wan) in the keys and knives game. During the game of hide and seek, she tries to escape the maze while players like Myung-gi scour the course with a knife with the objective to kill. While trying to fight off another player, Hyun-ju stumbles upon the exit. Instead of leaving, she runs back to Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri), who is in labor, and Geum-ja (Geum-ja), who is helping her, to alert them of the exit. Hyun-ju needs their keys to open the door.Before she can find them, Myung-gi — who happens to be the father of Jun-hee’s baby — stabs Hyun-ju in the back.Seon-nyeo (Player 044)Chae Kook-hee as Seon-nyeo in "Squid Game."NetflixMin-su (Lee David) kills Seon-nyeo (Chae Gook-hee) in the keys and knives game. Her death is somewhat accidental — he mistakes her for Nam-gyu (Roh Jae-won), who had poked fun at him in the past. Gi-hun strangles him, believing Dae-ho was responsible for the failure of the rebellion that took place in the end of Season 2. During the rebellion, Dae-ho was ordered to return to the players’ sleeping quarters to retrieve ammunition. During this moment, he suffered from a panic attack, leaving him frozen in fear and unable to run back to Gi-hun. The rebellion then fails. Gi-hun, who loses his best friend in the rebellion, had his eyes on Dae-ho since.Yong-sik (Player 007)Yang Dong-geun as Yong-sik in "Squid Game."No Ju-han / NetflixYong-sik (Yang Dong-geun) is killed by the pink guards in the keys and knives game. In the lead-up to his death, Yong-sik tries to kill Jun-hee to ensure he makes it to the next round. He had been unable to kill anyone and Jun-hee, having just given birth, is an easy target.Yong-sik's mother, Geum-ja, offers herself up instead. When he lunges for Jun-hee, Geum-ja stops him by stabbing him with her hair pin.Though Geum-ja’s stab is not fatal, it deters Yong-sik from killing Jun-hee. The pink guards shoot him as his mother screams.Geum-ja (Player 149)Kang Ae-shim as Geum-ja in "Squid Game."NetflixGeum-ja (Kang Ae-shim) takes her own life after the keys and knives game. Shortly after the game, Geum-ja helps Jun-hee and her baby while confiding in Gi-hun about the guilt she feels for the circumstances of her son’s death. The next morning, she is found hanging from her bed.Nam-gyu (Player 124)Roh Jae-won as Nam-gyu in "Squid Game."No Ju-han / NetflixNam-gyu (Roh Jae-won) dies during the jump rope game. Throughout the game, Nam-gyu is seen taking drugs from a cross necklace that once belonged to his friend, Thanos. During the game, Min-su throws Nam-gyu's necklace onto the jump rope bridge that players have to pass to survive. Without hesitation, Nam-gyu aims for the necklace, thinking that his drugs are still there. When he opens the necklace, he realizes it's empty. The jump rope catches his legs and throws him off the bridge to his death. Jun-hee (Player 222)Jo Yu-ri as Kim Jun-hee in "Squid Game."No Ju-han / NetflixJun-hee (Jo Yu-ri) dies during the jump rope game due to her swollen, broken ankle from the keys and knives game. Though she is seen practicing jumping before her turn, she realizes quickly that her chances of surviving are slim. As Gi-hun safely gets her baby across the bridge, Jun-hee bids farewell and falls to her death, rather than trying to cross the bridge. After her death, the creators of the game determine that her baby will carry on her number as Player 222.Captain ParkOh Dal-su as Captain Park in "Squid Game."NetflixCaptain Park (Oh Dal-su) is killed by Detective Hwang Jun-ho (Detective Hwang Jun-ho) on his boat.While sifting through Captain Park’s office, one of Jun-ho’s mercenaries, Woo-seok, finds a pink guard suit and mask, proving that Captain Park only been posing as a fisherman and in reality, had a part in the game.Captain Park tries to kill Jun-ho and his allies on the boat. Jun-ho fatally shoots him from behind instead. Min-su (Player 125)Lee David as Min-su in "Squid Game."No Ju-han / NetflixMin-su (Lee David) is killed by Myung-gi during the final game, Sky Squid Game. In it, players play the Korean classic game from Season 1 — only this time, they're high above ground and can fall to their deaths. During a hallucination, he encounters Se-mi, a player who had defended him from Thanos and Nam-gyu’s group. He felt immense guilt for after being too scared to save her from her death. In this hallucination, Se-mi accepts his apology and reaches out for his hand, telling him to follow her.Audiences then see Min-su charge at Myung-gi with a pole, pushing him off the elevated platform. Players 336, 353, 203, 100, 039Song Young-chang as Im Jeong-dae in "Squid Game."NetflixWhile participating in Sky Squid Game, all five players are pushed off of the elevated surface, falling to their deaths.Myung-gi (Player 333)Yim Si-wan as Myung-gi in "Squid Game."No Ju-han / NetflixMyung-gi (Yim Si-wan) is one of the game's final three players, along with his infant child and Gi-hun. The final two argue between who to sacrifice, as Myung-gi threatens to kill his baby. Eventually, Myung-gi and Gi-hun end up hanging from the surface’s edge. Myung-gi is saved by holding onto a jacket Gi-hun is holding. Gi-hun lets go of the jacket, resulting in Myung-gi’s death.Gi-hun (Player 456)Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun in "Squid Game."NetflixGi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) takes his own life in Sky Squid Game by falling to his death. Because of the game’s complicated rules, Myung-gi’s death does not “count,” and Gi-hun must decide between taking his own life or sacrificing Jun-hee’s baby. Before making his final decision, he tells the overlooking Front Man and the VIPs that humans are not “horses” — people cannot bet on humans as pawns.
